EastEnders Dominates British Soap Awards 2025, While Corrie Leaves Empty-Handed

It was a triumphant night for EastEnders at the 2025 British Soap Awards, as the long-running BBC drama swept the ceremony with a staggering eight wins, leaving rivals in the dust and reaffirming its place as the nation’s favourite soap.

Held in London on Sunday night, the star-studded event celebrated the very best of British soap talent, but it was EastEnders that stole the show. The Albert Square-based soap took home the night’s top honour, Best British Soap, as well as a string of major acting accolades and fan-voted awards.

Lacey Turner was crowned Best Leading Performer for her powerful portrayal of Stacey Slater, while EastEnders legend Steve McFadden secured Best Dramatic Performance for his intense and emotional work as Phil Mitchell, particularly in the much-lauded episode “Phil’s psychosis: the Mitchells in 1985,” which also won Best Single Episode.

The show’s ability to balance drama with levity was also recognised, with Patsy Palmer winning Best Comedy Performance for her return as fan-favourite Bianca Jackson. Meanwhile, Villain of the Year went to Navin Chowdhry for his sinister turn as Nish Panesar.

One of the most heartwarming wins of the night came in the Best On-Screen Partnership category, awarded to Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter, whose portrayal of Patrick and Yolande Trueman continues to resonate with viewers. And in a surprise twist, EastEnders also won Scene of the Year for the jaw-dropping return of Angie Watts, a moment that sent fans into a frenzy.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks took home two important awards. The long-running Channel 4 soap won Best Family for the Osbornes, and Best Storyline for its harrowing yet sensitively handled narrative about sibling sexual abuse, a plot praised for raising awareness and sparking important conversations. Rising star Isabelle Smith also claimed Best Newcomer for her role as Frankie Osborne.

Emmerdale was represented with a standout win for Amelia Flanagan, who picked up Best Young Performer for her moving portrayal of April Windsor.

In a surprising twist, Coronation Street, often a dominant force at the awards, left the ceremony empty-handed, failing to secure a single win in any category.

The 2025 British Soap Awards will be remembered as a night where EastEnders reigned supreme, cementing its current golden era and thrilling fans with a haul of well-deserved accolades.
