Emmerdale fans have cause to celebrate: Isabel Hodgins, who has portrayed Victoria Sugden on the ITV soap since 2006, is expecting her first child with husband Adam Whitehead. The exciting news was announced in an emotional Instagram post featuring the couple holding a baby scan, captioned: “First comes love, Then comes marriage, Then comes... Baby Whitehead ❤️.”
Hodgins, 31, born in Eccles, Greater Manchester, began playing Victoria Sugden as a child in 2006 and has remained one of the show’s most beloved figures ever since. She and Whitehead tied the knot earlier this year in Manchester at the Castlefield Rooms in a joyful ceremony attended by Emmerdale co-stars.

In her Instagram reveal, Hodgins shared a touching glimpse into the early weeks of her pregnancy. The couple posted their scan pictures and were showered with heartfelt congratulations from on-screen friends, including Lisa Riley (“absolutely wonderful news”), Daisy Campbell (“So happy for you both”) and Eden Taylor-Draper (“She’s a mommy, mamacita”). Sources confirm the pregnancy is already well into its second trimester, Hodgins is nearly four months along.
The actress also revealed to The Sun and Digital Spy that after 19 years on the soap, she plans to take a break from Emmerdale to “devote her life to being a mum.” Though she’s grateful for her long-running role, she admits the timing feels right to pause and embrace motherhood.
Digital Spy adds that the baby is expected “at the beginning of next year,” as the couple had hoped to start a family soon after their wedding.
