ED SHEERAN QUITS THE UK AS HE RELOCATES TO THE US WITH FAMILY

Ed Sheeran has revealed he’s leaving the UK behind as he prepares to make a permanent move to the United States with his family. The singer confirmed the news on a podcast, explaining that after years of splitting his time between touring and home life in Suffolk, he and wife Cherry Seaborn are ready to start a new chapter in Nashville.

The couple, who married in 2019, will be relocating with their two young daughters – Lyra, five, and Jupiter, three. Until now, the family had been based at their sprawling £3.7 million estate in Framlingham, nicknamed “Sheeranville.” The property features a private gym, a swimming pool, a treehouse, and even a separate bungalow, but Sheeran says it’s time for a change.

“I’m just about to move to America,” he explained. “I feel like I might be the only person moving to America. I’m going on tour there for a while and I have a family, so I can’t dip in and out. We’re going and settling there.”

For the 33-year-old star, the decision is about more than just convenience. Sheeran has made no secret of his love for Nashville, calling it his favourite US city. Earlier this year, he hinted at the move, saying: “When you transition to country, you can’t transition back. Nashville has always been my end goal.” His relocation appears to signal a deeper commitment to exploring country music, a genre he has already flirted with in recent collaborations.

However, the move doesn’t come without sacrifices. Sheeran has long been a devoted supporter of his local football team, Ipswich Town, in which he owns a 1.4 per cent stake and previously acted as a shirt sponsor. Last season, he attended nearly every game, but now admits that will no longer be possible. “I think I can only make one this season because I’m moving,” he confessed, adding that it’s one of the toughest parts of leaving Suffolk behind.

Despite the big change, fans have been quick to wish Sheeran well, with many pointing out that Nashville seems like a natural home for his evolving sound. The city is known as the global hub of country music, and it’s already embraced international artists who have found a new audience by blending pop and country styles.

For Sheeran, who has sold over 150 million records worldwide and remains one of the most streamed artists on the planet, the move could be the start of an exciting new chapter both musically and personally. As he settles into life across the Atlantic, UK fans may be seeing less of him in person, but his influence on both the British and American music scenes is unlikely to fade anytime soon.
