Police have confirmed that a drug overdose was the cause of death for two 23-year-olds whose bodies were discovered in a holiday apartment in Costa Adeje in southern Tenerife on Friday.
The bodies, which were found in an advanced state of decomposition, were located inside an apartment at the Caledonia Park complex in San Eugenio. The police were alerted after neighbours reported a strong smell coming from the property.
No Signs of Foul Play
Initial forensic examinations have ruled out any signs of violence or criminal involvement, even though it was first reported that this was possible. According to sources from the National Police, there is no evidence to suggest that anyone else was involved in the deaths.
The deceased have been identified as a young Italian man and a Canarian woman of Argentinian origin. Police say both were found in the same room, and early reports from the forensic team indicate that an overdose involving illegal substances is the cause of death, though toxicology results are still pending.
