It’s official: OVO Fest is making its highly anticipated return in summer 2025, and the announcement came straight from Drake himself, in the most Drake way possible.
Fans at Central Cee’s headline show at History in Toronto on Saturday were already buzzing, but the energy went through the roof when Drake made a surprise appearance, stepping out onto a balcony above the crowd to deliver the news in person.
The 6 God performed ‘Nokia’, a track from his February collaboration album with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, before grabbing the mic to make a major announcement:
“I’ll see you this summer, by the way. OVO Fest will be back this year.”
Cheers erupted as Drake confirmed the return of the festival he founded back in 2010. OVO Fest quickly became a cultural institution, bringing the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B to Toronto each year until the pandemic forced a long pause. The event returned briefly in 2022 with a star-studded lineup including Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, but has been off the radar ever since.
Now, after a three-year break, the festival is officially back, and Drake isn’t coming alone.
Pointing to UK rap star Central Cee, Drake shouted:
“We’ll need you there for that.”
He followed it with a heartfelt tribute:
“That guy right there, that’s my f*ing brother. I’ve seen this guy from day one, a humble spirit, a hard worker… He’s one of the best people I know. The realest.”
Fans are already speculating about who might be on the lineup this year, especially with Drake’s history of surprise guests, massive reunions, and career-defining moments on the OVO stage. Given the shoutout, Central Cee seems like a lock, and with Drake back at the helm, more global talent is likely to follow.
No official dates or ticket details have been announced yet, but if history is any indication, OVO Fest 2025 is set to be one of the biggest music events of the year.
