Doja Cat is never one to shy away from speaking her mind, and her latest target is Sydney Sweeney’s new campaign for American Eagle.
The Paint the Town Red hitmaker has been subtly (and not-so-subtly) poking fun at the Euphoria actress’s controversial new denim shoot, which has been making headlines and dividing fans online.
The campaign, fronted by Sweeney, features the 27-year-old actress in a series of sultry poses wearing figure-hugging denim pieces. While some have praised the shots as a bold and confident celebration of body positivity, others have called them overly staged and out of touch with the brand’s casual image.
And it seems Doja Cat falls firmly into the second camp.
The Grammy-winning rapper has been uploading videos to her TikTok account that appear to parody elements of the campaign. In one clip, she dramatically struts around her living room in jeans and a crop top, adopting exaggerated model pouts and poses. In another, she films herself leaning against random furniture, including her fridge, in an obvious nod to the campaign’s moody, heavily stylised aesthetic.
Fans were quick to connect the dots. One commenter wrote:
“We all know who she’s talking about 👀”
Another added:
“Doja, you are so unserious, and I’m here for it.”
While Doja hasn’t outright named Sydney in her posts, the timing and visual cues leave little doubt. The videos appeared online within days of American Eagle unveiling the new ads, and the styling choices in Doja’s parodies mimic Sweeney’s denim-clad look almost exactly.
Sydney has yet to publicly respond to the jabs, but given her playful nature in interviews, it wouldn’t be surprising if she takes it in stride, or even fires back with a cheeky post of her own.
She poked fun at the “good jeans” ad, joining other stars in slamming the Euphoria star’s campaign.
Doja, on the other hand, has built her brand on unfiltered humour, unpredictable content, and the occasional celebrity roast. Whether she’s trolling her own fans with bizarre Instagram Lives or playfully mocking the latest viral trend, her approach to fame is part pop star, part internet comedian.
For now, her denim digs seem to be more about having fun than starting an all-out celebrity feud. But given the online chatter, her TikTok send-up has only added fuel to the conversation about whether Sweeney’s campaign was a hit or a miss.
And if the comments section is anything to go by, most fans think Doja’s parody is the real viral denim moment of the week.
