Loose Women star Denise Welch is heading to Glastonbury this summer, but she’s made one thing crystal clear, there’s no way she’ll be sleeping in a tent.
The 65-year-old actress and TV personality is making the trip to Worthy Farm to support her son, Matty Healy, as he takes the spotlight with The 1975. The band is set to headline the festival’s main stage on the Friday night, and Welch will be proudly watching from the side of the stage. However, while she’s excited to see her son’s big moment, she's drawing a firm line when it comes to festival accommodation.
Speaking candidly, Welch admitted she's still scrambling to find somewhere suitable to stay. “We are still trying to sort out the bloody house where we’re going to stay. I don’t want to camp. I’d rather be in and out,” she revealed.
Her stance on festival living couldn’t be clearer, as she joked about her lack of experience with the muddy fields and portaloos synonymous with Glasto. “I don’t really do festivals,” she confessed. “The only one I’ve been to is Coachella. It was VIP and it was sunny and gorgeous. But no one stays there. Everyone goes home at the end of the night.”
It’s safe to say Welch isn’t planning to throw on wellies or brave the communal showers. Instead, she’s hoping for a comfortable base nearby, allowing her to enjoy the music without the traditional camping setup.
While she may not be staying for the full weekend, she hasn’t ruled out a return visit later in the festival. “I may go back on Sunday to see Rod Stewart,” she added, suggesting her Glastonbury experience will be carefully curated around convenience and comfort.
Denise Welch has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind, and her honest take on festival life has sparked laughter and admiration online, especially among fans who share her love for live music but draw the line at mud and tents.
With The 1975's headline slot one of the most anticipated performances of the weekend, and her potential Sunday return for music legend Rod Stewart, Welch’s brief but glamorous visit to Glasto is already shaping up to be one to remember, even if she won’t be sleeping under the stars.
