Dancing Queen in the Making? Sabrina Carpenter Rumoured to Join Mamma Mia 3 Cast!

Pop sensation and rising Hollywood star Sabrina Carpenter is reportedly being considered for a role in the long-awaited Mamma Mia 3, sending fans of both the singer and the iconic ABBA musical into a frenzy of speculation.

While Universal Pictures has yet to officially confirm the third instalment of the hugely popular film series, whispers around Hollywood are growing louder, and Carpenter’s name is the latest to be linked to the potential project. Known for her powerhouse vocals, charismatic screen presence, and recent chart-topping success, the 25-year-old appears to be a perfect fit for the sun-soaked, song-filled world of Mamma Mia!

The original Mamma Mia! movie, based on the smash-hit West End musical, debuted in 2008 and became a global box office sensation. Its star-studded cast, including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth, returned for 2018’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which served as both a sequel and a prequel. Now, fans are eagerly awaiting word on a third film that could tie up loose ends and perhaps introduce a new generation of characters.

Producer Judy Craymer, the mastermind behind the Mamma Mia! franchise, has hinted at a trilogy since as far back as 2020. “There’s meant to be a trilogy,” she said, sparking years of anticipation and fan theories. While there has been no formal greenlight, the pieces seem to be falling into place.

Veteran cast members have recently dropped tantalising clues. Christine Baranski, who plays the sharp-tongued Tanya, revealed she met with Craymer last year. And in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pierce Brosnan confirmed he too had met with her: “Judy Craymer is a dear friend, and we met during the summer,” he said. “I believe that my fellow thespians would all jump at the chance to go and do Mamma Mia 3. I think it’s doable.”

So where does Sabrina Carpenter fit into all this? With her star rapidly rising thanks to hit singles like “Espresso” and a recent appearance at the Met Gala turning heads, insiders believe Carpenter is being eyed for a pivotal younger role, possibly the daughter of an established character or even a young version of one of the leading ladies in flashbacks.

While nothing has been confirmed, Carpenter’s involvement would signal a fresh and exciting new chapter for the Mamma Mia! franchise, blending legacy cast members with today’s brightest talent.

Until the official announcement drops, fans will just have to keep their fingers crossed and the ABBA playlist on repeat. One thing’s for sure, if Sabrina joins the party, the third film will be nothing short of “Super Trouper.”
