DAISY MAY COOPER BOWS OUT OF NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS

DAISY MAY COOPER BOWS OUT OF NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS

It’s the end of an era, again, for Never Mind the Buzzcocks, as Daisy May Cooper has officially stepped down from the revived version of the iconic music quiz show.

The BAFTA-winning actress and comedian, known for her no-nonsense humour and fearless on-screen presence, will not be returning for the latest series. Instead, Sophie Willan, who had previously stepped in during Daisy’s maternity leave, has now been confirmed as a full-time team captain.

While fans were hopeful Daisy would return to her post, her ongoing commitments and family priorities appear to have taken precedence, and many are already welcoming Sophie with open arms.

A Comedy Hand-Off with Respect

Daisy had become a standout part of the show’s rebooted format when it returned to screens in 2021 after a six-year hiatus. Her chaotic energy and brilliant comedic timing made her a fan favourite opposite host Greg Davies, team captain Noel Fielding, and regular panellist Jamali Maddix.

But with a growing family and a flourishing acting career, stepping back from the weekly music mayhem made sense.

A Sky spokesperson confirmed:

“Daisy won’t be returning for this series of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and we thank her for the laughs and brilliance she brought to the show.”

Sophie Willan, known for her sharp wit and the hit series Alma’s Not Normal, has already earned praise for her guest stint and now officially joins the panel as full-time captain.

What to Expect From the New Series

The latest series will include four themed episodes, diving into:

Buzzcocks Does… The Nineties

Buzzcocks Does… The Noughties

Buzzcocks Does… Rock

Buzzcocks Does… Girl & Boy Bands

These specially themed instalments promise to be nostalgia-packed, giving fans of all ages plenty to enjoy, and plenty to laugh at.

As always, Buzzcocks continues to blend musical trivia with comedy chaos and irreverent celebrity banter. With Greg Davies still at the helm and a rotating roster of guests from across the entertainment world, the show’s chaotic charm remains intact.

Still Buzzing After All These Years

Originally launched in 1996 on BBC Two, Never Mind the Buzzcocks became a cult hit thanks to its anarchic energy, deadpan humour, and fearless mocking of pop culture.

It was axed in 2015, but Sky revived the series in 2021 to much acclaim, refreshing the look but keeping the irreverent tone fans loved.

Now, with Sophie Willan adding her voice to the mix, the show looks set to continue evolving while still delivering the fun.
