Coldplay fans were in for an unforgettable night as the band performed one of their most beloved songs live for the first time in nearly a decade, and the emotional moment sent the crowd into meltdown.
During their latest Music of the Spheres Tour stop in Budapest, Chris Martin and the band shocked the audience by launching into “A Message”, a track from their 2005 album X&Y that hasn’t been played live since 2016.
As the first few notes rang out on Martin’s acoustic guitar, fans gasped, with many visibly emotional. Concertgoers quickly flooded social media with videos and reactions, with one TikTok clip amassing over a million views in under 24 hours.
“I never thought I’d hear this live. I cried the whole way through,” one fan posted.

The surprise addition came during the acoustic section of the show, where Coldplay often switches up their setlist with deep cuts or rare tracks. Martin introduced the song by saying:
“We haven’t played this in a long time, but tonight felt like the right night.”
“A Message” has long been a fan-favourite for its raw lyrics and soaring melody, yet it rarely features in Coldplay’s more pop-focused modern setlists.
The band, currently in the middle of their massive world tour, has been praised for their commitment to sustainability and fan engagement, including interactive wristbands, surprise guests, and now, nostalgic gems.
Fans are now begging Coldplay to include the track in more tour stops, with “A Message” trending on X, formerly Twitter, across several countries.
