After 15 years of bargain-hunting and friendly celebrity rivalry, the BBC has quietly placed Celebrity Antiques Road Trip on the shelf.
The long-running spin-off, which saw famous faces team up with expert antique dealers to scour Britain’s shops and fairs for hidden treasures, has been “rested” for the foreseeable future.
While the original Antiques Road Trip is still very much alive and continuing to delight daytime viewers, its glitzier celebrity counterpart will not be filming new episodes this year.
A source told The Sun:
“Celebrity Antiques Road Trip has proved a popular show for the BBC, but the focus right now is the original version of the show. A final decision hasn’t been made on its future just yet, but it’s definitely being rested for the remainder of the year and bosses will reassess in 2026.”
The celebrity edition first aired in 2010, bringing a fresh twist to the established daytime format. Over the years, it attracted a glittering array of participants, from actors and comedians to musicians and sports stars, all trying their hand at spotting a bargain and making a tidy profit at auction.
Part of the show’s charm was watching well-known personalities leave their comfort zones and get stuck into the world of antiques dealing. Often competitive, occasionally clueless, but always entertaining, the show blended gentle humour with genuine insight into Britain’s antiques trade.
Memorable moments over the years included Tim Wonnacott sharing his vast knowledge with celebrity guests, hilarious haggling mishaps, and the occasional shock when an item bought for just a few pounds sold for hundreds at auction.
The decision to pause the celebrity series comes as the BBC continues to streamline its content, focusing resources on its most consistently performing formats. The main Antiques Road Trip has been a reliable ratings winner, following experts as they travel across the country in classic cars, competing to turn a starting budget into the biggest profit.

The corporation has made it clear that the celebrity version isn’t officially cancelled, yet. There remains the possibility that it could return in 2026, depending on audience demand and scheduling priorities.
Fans of the celebrity edition have taken to social media to share their disappointment. One viewer wrote:
“It was such a nice, easy watch and you got to see another side to the celebs. Hopefully it’s just a break and not the end.”
For now, viewers will have to make do with the classic Antiques Road Trip, which continues to air on BBC One and BBC Two. And who knows? By the time the celebrity spin-off returns, there might be a whole new generation of famous faces ready to hit the road in search of antique treasures.
