Iconic Beatles tribute band Bootleg Beatles is officially searching for a new Paul McCartney, and they’re opening auditions nationwide.
Formed in 1980, the group has performed at major events like the Queen’s Golden Jubilee (2002), supported Oasis at Knebworth, and returned multiple times to Glastonbury. They’re scheduled for an appearance on the Glastonbury acoustic stage this June 29 at 8 pm.
Current bassist Steve White, who has portrayed Paul for over a decade, is stepping down, prompting the band to open the role to a fresh face. The replacement will need to sing, play bass, and embody Paul’s appearance and energy.
This is a golden moment for Beatles fans and tribute performers alike. As founder Gordon Elsmore said, “All male singers who look and sound like the original McCartney are encouraged to audition”, a testament to the role’s cultural significance.
Bootleg Beatles’ setlist is legendary: classic hits like Hey Jude, Let It Be, and All My Loving, performed with precise vocals, vintage instruments, and authentic Fab Four charisma. Fans expect their acoustic Glastonbury performance to be a highlight of this year’s festival.
The band’s openness to talent ensures the next Paul could emerge from anywhere. Auditions will likely involve live demos, video submissions, and in-person callbacks.
For Beatles devotees, this is a chance to join a storied tribute with prestige and reach. For audiences, it’s the promise of timeless music and nostalgia under the open skies.
