Billie Eilish has spoken out against fake images circulating online that appear to show her attending this year’s Met Gala, warning fans that they are "AI" generated.
The 21-year-old superstar, known for her bold fashion choices, took to Instagram to set the record straight after images supposedly showing her attending the star-studded event began making waves on social media. But while Eilish is no stranger to the Met Gala, having made history as the youngest-ever co-chair at just 19 in 2021, she was nowhere near this year’s event.
In fact, the Grammy-winning singer was performing in Amsterdam on the same night as the Met Gala. Addressing the confusion directly, she posted on Instagram: "Seeing people talk about what I wore to this year’s Met Gala being trash… I wasn’t there. That’s AI."
Eilish added with a touch of humour: "I had a show in Europe that night," before laughing and finally saying: "Let me be!"
The rise of AI-generated images has sparked concern across the entertainment industry, with many celebrities becoming unwitting targets of digital manipulations. Eilish’s decision to publicly address the fake images is a reminder of the challenges stars face in an age where technology can easily blur the lines between reality and fiction.
Fans of the "Bad Guy" singer have rallied to her support, with many applauding her for speaking out and highlighting the dangers of AI-generated misinformation.
This incident comes as Eilish continues to dominate the global music scene, currently on tour and continuing to thrill audiences worldwide.
