Ariana Grande Signs Up for Dr Seuss Animated Musical

Ariana Grande has added another exciting project to her already glittering career, and it’s music to her fans’ ears.

The singer and actress, who wowed audiences and critics alike with her performance in last year’s Wicked, has officially signed on to star in an animated musical adaptation of the beloved Dr Seuss book Oh, The Places You’ll Go!.

The new film, set for release in March 2028, will once again showcase Ariana’s celebrated vocal talents, as the adaptation is being developed as a full-scale musical.

It reunites her with Wicked director Jon M. Chu, who is behind the ambitious project, making it no surprise that Grande was brought on board.

Back to singing on screen

Fans of Ariana have been clamouring to hear her sing in a major film again, and this project promises just that.

In addition to voicing the lead character in the whimsical Dr Seuss world, Ariana is expected to record a number of original musical numbers for the soundtrack, a prospect that already has social media buzzing.

Joining her in the cast is Josh Gad, who is no stranger to animated musicals himself, having famously voiced Olaf in Disney’s Frozen franchise.

One fan on X summed up the excitement:

“Ariana + Josh + Jon Chu + Dr Seuss = instant classic. Take my money already!”

From Wicked to Wonderful

Grande’s move into the family-friendly animated space follows her critically acclaimed turn as Glinda in the first part of the Wicked movie adaptation, which proved her acting chops extend beyond just her voice.

She’ll also return to cinemas later this year, in November, when the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good (the sequel to Wicked) hits theatres.

Director Jon M. Chu, who has helmed hit musicals such as In the Heights and Wicked, called the chance to work with Ariana again a “dream come true.”

“Ariana understands how to bring joy, heart, and magic to a role like no one else,” Chu said in a statement. “This story is about adventure, hope, and possibility, and she’s the perfect voice to take audiences on that journey.”

Oh, The Places You’ll Go! has long been a favourite among readers of all ages for its message of courage and perseverance in the face of life’s challenges. This new musical version aims to bring that timeless tale to a whole new generation in spectacular fashion.

For Ariana Grande fans, it’s yet another chance to see, and hear, their idol shine on the big screen.
