The first name rumoured to join the brand-new series of Jimmy Carr’s Last One Laughing has been revealed, and it’s none other than rising stand-up star Amy Gledhill.
According to insiders, the comedian has been snapped up by Prime Video for the second season of the hit comedy show, which is set to drop next year.
Hosted by Jimmy Carr, Last One Laughing became one of Prime Video’s breakout UK comedy hits last year, pitting 10 of the country’s funniest comics against each other in a hilarious test of nerves: they must keep a straight face for six hours, while trying to make everyone else in the room crack up. The last comic standing, who resists laughing the longest, is crowned the winner.
The show’s debut series featured comedy heavyweights including Bob Mortimer, Daisy May Cooper, and Joe Lycett. Now it seems producers are mixing it up with fresh talent.
Amy Gledhill, who won acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and took home a UK National Comedy Award, is tipped to be one of the breakout names of the next series.
An insider told The Sun:
“Amy is not massively known as yet, but she’s a rising star who has already achieved acclaimed success at the UK National Comedy Awards and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Last One Laughing is the perfect opportunity to show off her talent, and help catapult her onto the worldwide stage.”

Gledhill is best known for her quick wit, relatable storytelling, and self-deprecating humour, qualities that could make her a dark horse in the Last One Laughing line-up.
Fans of the show have already begun speculating online about who else could join Amy in the series. Some names floated include returning favourites like Joe Lycett and newcomers such as Rosie Jones and Nish Kumar.
Production on the second series is believed to be underway, with the cast being assembled over the summer. Prime Video has not yet officially announced the full line-up, but insiders suggest an “exciting mix” of big names and rising stars will make up the 10 contestants.
Jimmy Carr is confirmed to return as host, bringing his signature deadpan humour and wicked one-liners to keep the comics in check.
The first season was a critical and commercial success for Prime Video, praised for its unique format and laugh-out-loud moments. The streamer will be hoping the new cast brings just as much chaos and comedy to the next round.
As for Amy, fans are already rooting for her to go all the way, and if she can keep a straight face through six hours of comic madness, she just might.
