13 Questions Brits Wish They Could Ask on a First Date

A new poll has revealed that a staggering 94% of singles believe the dating scene could be more honest, with 84% saying it should be acceptable to dive straight into the tough questions before or during a first date.

According to research from the luxury dating platform Seeking, 92% of singles feel the dating world is filled with half-truths and white lies. In fact, 34% admitted they’ve arrived at a date only to find their match looked nothing like their photos, while 22% have met someone from a completely different generation than expected. A further 21% revealed they turned up to a date to find their partner was much shorter than claimed.

The research also uncovered that 15% of singles have been blindsided by their date's hidden children, while 8% found themselves with a teetotaler who wasn’t actually abstaining from alcohol.
Given the prevalence of such surprises, singles have been sharing the questions they’d like to ask upfront before committing to a date. Some of the most common queries include: "What do you look like first thing in the morning?", "How much do you earn?", "Are your teeth real?", and "What is your bank balance right now?"

Other burning questions that singles wish they could ask right away include: "Are you still married?", "Why did your last relationship end?", "Do you have narcissistic traits?", "Do you want to get married one day?", "Do you have an addictive personality?", "How many people have you slept with?", "Are you a Tory?", "Will you pay on our first date?", "How much do you earn?", "Are your teeth real?", "What is your net worth?", and "What is your bank balance right now?"

The survey also highlighted the most common areas where people bend the truth, such as age (51%), relationship status (44%), money (42%), height (33%), and work (30%). With honesty being a top priority for many, it seems singles are eager to get real and transparent in the dating world.
