PENALTY-TAKERS in the World Cup may go wobbly at the knees as they step forward to take their turn, but the same could not be said about the Target A darts team last Friday.
Not even extra-time was required as they coolly slotted home a 7-1 win over Toscales Allsorts. Rob and his men are really hitting form now and have climbed to eighth in the Oasis Fm Darts League. With Exiles not playing, Phoenix Bar hit top spot for the first time ever in Division 1, although they were pushed all the way by a gallant display from Heroes Bar, who managed to take two well-deserved points. Phoenix player Bubbles blamed his mediocre display on an excess of brandy! After successive defeats, Bar Nauta A came storming back with a sound 8-0 thrashing of Cafe Rood A. Indeed, they lost only one leg, to Luc`s brilliant, unanswerable 13-darter. Strikers Bar got themselves out of the bottom three by handing out a 5-3 defeat to Sundowners, who now sit just above the relegation zone. Elsewhere in the division, it was a night of 7-1 scorelines. Tenerife Suns jumped up two places by thumping Target B, and Woodys A also won by the same margin in a local derby at Toscales Ensecan. The X-Men, who have had a tough start to the season, entertained Ourplace Flukers and put them firmly in their place, completing the 7-1 trio to lift themselves up to 12th spot.
In Division 2, Silencio’s Tenerife Sun made the long journey up to Calleo Salvaje to face Barracuda Darts Boys. Mick, from the visitors, hit a 180 in a close match that saw the Darts Boys eventually win 5-3. Third-place Gaffers overwhelmed Woodys B in a one-sided affair ‒ so one sided, in fact, that they won every single leg in an 8-0 drubbing. Nautas Nutters clawed a few points back on the leaders as they also registered maximum points by hammering the Playgirls. Bar 180 B still remain unbeaten and never looked like losing as they got the better of Rood B with a fine 7-1 away win. For the second week in a row, Yelas Bar gained a 7-1 victory, their victims this time being Barracuda Hunters. The form shown by Yelas means they are in with a real shout for promotion. La Caña Lancers went up the road to the Phoenix Bar in Los Abrigos for a local derby, but to no avail as the Flames scored a solid 6-2 win. Nutty Nat, of the Flames, deserves a special mention for throwing some excellent darts. Amigos Bad Girls had a difficult night against challengers Naughty Nautas. They had no answer to some good darting by the campsite team, who went home with a 7-1 triumph. On the Golf, The Tavern had Silencio side Marilyns to contend with, and they did so in fine style by thumping them 7-1.
