A WEEKEND charity fund-raiser for Cancer Research is being held at the Next Door bar in Malibu Park, Torviscas Alto, from Friday, 30th October, until 1st November.
Organiser Catherine Goodwin who owns the San Eugenio Alto bar, lost her husband, Alan, to bladder cancer in 2007 and feels the time is now right to raise money for this worthwhile cause. There will be something for everyone throughout the three days, including some sports events on the Friday and Saturday. Catherine, known as Cat, is challenging to all the bars, sports organisations and anyone else interested to bring teams along to the bar Next Door to take part in this tournament. Are you a member of a team who play table football, pool, five-a-side, table tennis, darts or even air hockey? For just ten euros, you can enter your team into as many events as you can handle, while raising loads of money for Cancer Research. Entries can be submitted at the bar Next Door. On Saturday evening there will be a Party Night at Next Door, with fun and games for the whole family – kids’ stuff early doors and adults later. And all the machines on The Terrace next door will be on ‘free play’, so the youngsters can amuse themselves while their mums and dads compete against each other. Then, on 1st November, Cat is hoping to hold a Car Boot Sale from 9am-1pm. Incidentally, Cat is keen for any serious car-booters wanting regular sales at Malibu to let her know and she will hire the tennis courts for them. Another plea from her is for more entertainers to offer their services free, any time from noon until midnight over the three days. She has already recruited some, but would like many more. |
