Beach beautiful - 26.06.2009
The Cabildo is heading a project to improve the beach front in Santiago del Teide

This week a project team led by architect José Ángel Domínguez Anadón has been instructed to draft a proposal.
According to the first vice president and Director of Tourism, José Manuel Bermúdez, "this action is included within the Regeneration Area Convention and Tourism, it will have an investment of more than 2.3 million euros."  The project must be drafted to define the improvements of the Avenida Maritima Puerto Santiago, between the streets of Ana María and the final stretch of the street Manuel Ravelo, they are aiming for a renewal of this whole area.
It will include a transformation of the existing traffic, which is two-way traffic and parking on both sides, this will change to one-way and parking in line so as to widen the sidewalks on both sides of the road.
Another of the initiatives is the replacement of existing pavements, the planting of plants, new lighting and street furniture which is more in line with current trends.  In addition, the project should reflect the integration of trade across the beach front with the renovated public space to provide a homogeneous solution.  Regarding the traffic north bound will be diverted through the streets of Ana Maria and down the street Manuel Ravelo.
Santiago del Teide will benefit from an investment of 6.6 billion euros until 2013 to improve its public tourist space, an amount to be contributed by the government agencies: Cabildo de Tenerife, Canary Islands Government and central City Government. All of these actions form part of the Regeneration Area Convention Resort, initiated through Tourism of Tenerife, including the municipalities of Arona, Adeje, Puerto de la Cruz and Santiago del Teide.
