On Saturday 2nd February friends and family of Brian Crandley held a sponsored walk at the ‘infreno del Barranco’ in memory of Brian as he was an avid Greyhound fan.
Ironically, it always seems the case that news of people being cruel to these gentle intelligent creatures gets reported as opposed to the genuine work that goes on by dedicated people like Brian. He was involved in the breeding, racing and re-homing of Greyhounds and strongly believed that you should give back to the dogs for all the fun and enjoyment they bring to you during their racing careers. The support he gave to them in his donations to the ‘Monmore Green Retired Greyhound Trust’ therefore in his memory his wife Sharon thought the best way to celebrate his life and love was to raise some money to donate to the trust. The Kennel Manager Alison came over from the Midlands for the event with her colleague Maria to support Brian’s friends and family by joining in the walk. Altogether they have raised more than 3,000 euros to help support the dogs after their racing career, the staff are doing a tremendous job of raising awareness of how great pets Greyhounds make as contrary to belief they are very gentle and loving dogs that do not need a lot of exercise just the normal routine you would have for any other dog is sufficient and in return you receive companionship and unconditional love. If you would like to support the greyhounds in anyway you can contact Alison on 00441922412212 or go to www.rgtmonmore.co.uk
The organizers of the event would like to thank the following for their sponsorship and support:
Sunset Harbour, The Deli, Aqualand, Junglepark, Headquarters hairdressers & beauty salon, La Condesa Italian Restaurant, Robots hairsalon
Also in the photo are retired Greyhounds Woody age 7 and Dexter aged 9 who are from the UK , who now live happy in Tenerife.
