LATEST NEWS:
John Lowe Trophy sponsored by the Kitchen
Draw:
John Lowe Trophy 3rd round results:
Ourplace Naturals 5-2 Target Army
Sundowners 4-3 Toscales Tornados
Summerland Hopefuls 3-4 Xtreme Sports bar
Palms Sports bar 2-5 Bar 180A
John Lowe Plate 2nd Round results:
X-men 3-4 Phoenix bar
Bad Girls/Boys 2-5 Gaffers
Scruffy Macs 3-4 The Pub
Tenerife Sun 3-4 Barracudarts Boys
Fridays matches in the John Lowe team handicap competition produced 2
giant killings and 5 last gasp wins. In the trophy, Ourplace Naturals
player Nathan hit a 180 during the first of the shock results as they
dispatched Target Army 5-2. Sundowners also beat an upper league team
in Toscales Tornados in a very close match that ended 4-3, while Xtreme
Sports Bars 4-3 win at Summerland Hopefuls went right down the very last
leg. That result set up a mouthwatering semi-final after Bar 180 A eventually
got to play Palms Sports Bar! Guess which team went to the wrong venue?
Anyway, after a flurry of phone calls the match got underway and Bar 180
A booked their place with a 5-2 victory.
In the John Lowe plate competition things went in favour of the Division
1 sides although not without some really close games. At Exiles all those
involved enjoyed a night to remember, and a topsy-turvy match. X-men,
with a 90 point advantage, raced into a 2-0 lead only to be pegged back
by Phoenix. At 3-2 to the home side, the Los Abrigos boys needed both
doubles rubbers for the win and duly claimed them after virtually the
last dart was thrown by Bubbles to hit double 8. Frantic stuff! Gaffers
160 point defecit at Bar Girls/Boys seemed no problem at all and they
took the tie 5-2, while Scruffy Macs failed to use the same 160 point
headstart and crashed out to The Pub. Elsewhere, Barracudarts tight 4-3
success at Tenerife Sun included maximums for Dean and Carl.

 |
| A long while ago on match week 3 the Division 1 teams accumulated
12 maximums between them. That record was blown out of the window on week
27 as no less than 15 180s were recorded! Those hitting the old lipstick
were; Bubbles (Phoenix), Pete (The Pub), Ian (Titans), Mitch x 2/London
(Xtreme), JZ (X-Men), Richard x 3/Mick/Justyn (Bar 180 A), John/Dave (Cozy
Wanderers) and Leo (Toscales Tornados). The quality match on the night looked
to be at Cozy Wanderers as Shammys 120 finish was replied to by Sonics 131
and Kill Bills 101. Bar 180 A again swap places with Xtreme Sports Bar and
go top after thumping Valle Vikings 1. Xtremes Mike Telfer apparently played
rubbish but it was enough to get a win over Gaffers while Phoenix put in
a fine performance to complete the double whitewash over Barracudart Boys.

Joan won her singles and trebles, aided by Shaz and Evette,
to take two legs for the Phoenix Flames although Division 2 leaders Sundowners
took the other 6 rubbers for a comfortable win while Jamie hit his 5th 180
during the Naturals 5-3 success over Palms Sports Bar. Scruffy Macs 20th
win of the campaign came at trap door and Cafe Rood B got back to winning
ways at home to Naughty Nautas. La Caña Lancers could not repeat
last weeks surprise win and slumped to a 5-3 defeat at Marilyns while Sunshine
Bar slipped up by losing 5-3 at Summerland Hopefuls. Finally, Ourplace Playgirls
recorded just their 6th victory with a well deserved 6-2 triumph over Valle
Vikings 2.
This coming Fridays matches are in the John Lowe trophy (sponsored by The
Kitchen Draw) and the John Lowe plate (sponsored by Phoenix Bar). Good luck
to all.

A great presentation!
The Oasis fm darts league teams, players and supporters enjoyed a fantastic
time during the annual presentation night at the Showtime venue in Playa
Las Americas last Friday evening. And a record turn out for the event were
able to enjoy a few beers together, with entertainment from Pip Brown and
of course the Jurgen and Sebrinal seal trophy finals. In the Jurgen trophy
semi finals a slightly out of form Bubbles (Phoenix) was brushed aside by
London (Nauta Bar). Walter of the Silver Surfers was then given the same
treatment by Mitch, to set up an all Nauta final. As we have seen this season,
both players know how to chuck a dart and a close final was expected. But
our man Mitch was in no mood to show any mercy to his team-mate and took
the Jurgen trophy with a comfortable 4-1 win. Next up, Betty and Shanny
took to the stage to contest the Sebrina Seal cup final. An extra bit of
glory was at stake for Cafe Roods Betty as she strived to become the person
to complete a grand slam in ladies competitions. And sadly for Shanny, she
was on the receiving end of some very good darts by Betty, and the clean
sweep was completed! Many congratulations to Betty and Mitch.
After we had all been well fed, it was time for the seasons silverware to
be dished out, and a steady stream of winners and runners-up made their
way to the stage (some a bit more wobbly than others by this time!). However,
there was one particular trophy award that was incredibly poignant. The
Amigos bad girls managed second place in the ladies trebles early in the
season with a certain young lady by the name of Marilyn as part of the team.
This brave lady has been un-able to play darts for most of the season, and
received a standing ovation as she made her way onto the stage to collect
her trophy with Sheena and Ann. There was barely a dry eye in the house.
Many congratulations to all trophy winners and a big thank you to the Showtime
team for hosting the evening. Lets do it all again next season!!

The Power is a Natural
The Oasis Fm darts league prides itself on being an open league which welcomes
players from all age ranges and of all abilities. Division 2 side Ourplace
Naturals were able demonstrate this to good effect on Friday night as they
welcomed none less than 15 times world champion Phil Taylor into their ranks.
And Phils natural ability helped the home team overcome Rood B by 7 points
to 1. |
Bullseye! Marathon men hit world record.
Good luck messages from on-line viewers poured in from all over
the globe at the weekend as two local darts players broke the official world
record for a continuous game of singles.
Oasis Fm League darters Mark, from Exiles, and Andy, from the Knights, played
non-stop for 27hrs 42mins to register their names in the Guinness Book of
Records.
They even received support from the US and Australia as they threw over
14,271 darts and scored over 210,771 points during the course of their marathon
233 games.
