The Big Switch On 2006

It's back for 2006 - the biggest Christmas event in Tenerife, at San Blas, Golf De Sur, on Friday December 8th!

Be there in the square! - On Friday 8th December 2006 , Oasis Fm will once again be staging an exclusive event in the two squares of C.C. San Blas, Golf del Sur.
This year Oasis Fm will be broadcasting live from 2pm-8pm , Father Christmas will take time out of his busy schedule in the run up to Christmas and will be in his grotto, located in top square for photos with the children. He will be assisted by two Oasis Fm elves - but who are they?
There will be plenty of fun for all the family including; carol singers from local schools, face painting, bouncy castles for children, local cabaret artists on the day, makeover competition hosted by Mel Faulkner live on the day, and being followed up in the Canarian Weekly.
Also the presentation and announcement of the Canarian Weekly Christmas Card competition winner and the live final of the ‘Song For Christmas' competition.
And finally, competitions and giveaways throughout the day, official after-party at Taboos, plus some surprises along the way…

This year all monies raised will be donated to The Asociacion San Lazaro.
The Asociacion San Lazaro was formed 16 years ago by a group of parents who have children with cerebral palsy, they were tired of travelling to America or Cuba for help treating and caring for their children, as they received little or no help from the authorities here.
Thanks to Caja Canarias bank, they were able to set up a small centre in Santa Cruz in a repossessed shop locale where they gave physiotherapy, taught the children to speak, dress and feed themselves, also giving guidance and help to the parents - this was called Proyecto Martha I.
Soon the demand for places was overwhelming and they dreamt of having their own clinic, Proyecto Martha II, where they could treat more children, run a kindergarten to enable mothers to work, help older people and a 24 hour family respite to allow families to have a break. Most of this has become a reality and Martha II operates in a large house in Las Mantecas, La Laguna.
They need further help and support due to an overwhelming need for their services and their existing house is now way too small!

Join us at the Big Switch On - Friday 8th December to raise funds, you can help us to help them.
